If you have a DLSR with a detachable lens you can create microscopic images. 
  1. Release the lens being very careful not to touch the glass on either side
  2. Flip the lens so the front end is now pressed against the camera facing the mirrors inside
  3. Looking through the viewfinder, move about 3-5 inches from a surface (eg fabric, natural form, newspaper text ext)
  4. You will have to move the whole camera and lens to find your focus (this can be quite tricky!!)

Development ideas:

Open images in Photoshop and try the following things:
  • Invert the image (command 'I')
  • Try creating a grid of your successful shots
  • Juxtapose your macro image with a normal shot
  • Crop a small, interesting section and enlarge to create an abstract image
  • Add text
