We spend a lot of time focusing on what we are photographing but sometimes the power of photography is to make the viewer want to know what is happening outside of the frame.  This sense of intrigue will persuade the viewer to return to that image again and again.

Create a series of images that suggests the presence of something that is out of the frame.

Tips:

  • Use compositional devises like lines to direct the viewers eyes out of frame
  • Create dramatic tension by having your subject look beyond the frame or use an empty seat to suggest human presence
  • Try to capture a transitional moment, someone walking out of frame
